On the 25th May, São Brás de Alportel invites everyone to the 3rd staging of the Historical Recreation “São Braz d'Alportel, 1914”!
In this day, São Brás de Alportel will travel back in time, rewinding over a century and recreating the ambience of the city in those days.
The Historical Centre will be transformed into a merry-go-round of entertainment and surprising happenings: street theatre, music, dancing, circus, handicrafts, delicacies and characters from a bygone era await you.

A journey back in time...
Evoking the establishment of the Republic, the granting of the status of a municipality to São Brás de Alportel and a century of progress and community are the main reason of the 3rd Historical Recreation staging.
The beginning of the century witnessed a time of euphoria, with business opportunities arising at every turn. Cork traders, artists, intellectuals, beggars, acrobats and conjurers made their way to São Brás de Alportel, known in those days as a land of opportunity. There were also times of despondency and decline. Today, we have all of this. Let's relive that magical time!

How to take part?
On the 25thmay you can participate in a free and spontaneous way by dressing up as back then.
Be a part of this bit of history and have fun with us, with your family or friends!
You can also play an active role in this grand festival by signing up as extras in the event.

Open Doors - if you have a house in the historical centre, you can open your door and join in the festival.
Extras - you can be part of the street entertainment programme, playing a “part” either individually or in a group.
Craftspeople - you can present your traditional products dressed up as period style.
Drinks and bites to eat - if you own a restaurant or similar, you can take part in the competition for awarding spaces for eateries (meals); and if you are part of an association you can organise a tavern space (drinks and snacks).
Entertainment - if you belong to a group of artists you can take part in the entertainment programme.
